The silver and gold strips in this work remind me of the robot masks Daft Punk wear during performances. When I started to sew this garment, I layered pieces of denim on top of each other and top stitched them onto an existing pair of jean shorts to create a scale-like, and layered effect. It was very time consuming but beautiful. I wanted to re-create this on leisure wear such as robes and pants. I started by taking my home robe which I use everyday and patterned it out into a jacket. I then made a pajama pants pattern from scratch and cut all the pattern pieces out of denim. Then I cut three hides of leather into 1 inch strips and overlapped them by a half an inch. I applied all the strips onto the denim one strip at a time being as precise as possible, this gave the robes and pants texture and color.
