This dress is inspired by the teenage obsession with taking photos. Instagram is populated with countless photos of teenage parties and life. I wanted to make a dress capturing this. I took over 400 photos of my girlfriend in New York City at night or in front of black backgrounds. I made a dress using stretch fabric and then used a tag gun to secure each polaroid to the dress one at a time. This process was highly labor intensive. The black backgrounds succeeded at making the dress look like a “little black dress”, while the photographs link it back to contemporary culture.
