I love Marie Antoinette dresses and wanted to create one out of jeans as a modern iteration. This dress was made with a hoop skirt and over 20 pairs of jeans. I started by putting my hoop skirt on a mannequin and draping the jeans over it until they covered it completely. Afterwards, I sewed every pair of jeans down to the skirt itself. Finally, I took one pair of jeans and turned it upside down to become a V neck top that draped well on the shoulders. I wanted to juxtapose a fancy ball gown dress with jeans that had been used. I bought irregular or trashed jeans at goodwill to upcycle them in the construction of this garment.
