I made these in the hopes of creating a new silhouette by combining an apron with chaps. The garment exposes the body and is made entirely out of leather. This piece was my first attempt at making swimwear. By combining a cheetah print speedo with the leather chaps themselves, I created a silhouette that has not been made before. The red reminded me of the swimsuits Pamela Anderson and the cast of Baywatch wore. I was also inspired by cowboys and the chaps they wore while riding horses. Chaps are very closely tied to drag and the LGBTQ+ community. The silhouette I created does not require a belt, suspenders, or jeans to make them complete. They are intended to be a playful piece of art that anyone could throw on before going to the beach.
